Tottenham see off Arsenal and Everton in fight to sign classy midfielder

It looks like Tottenham are already feeling the benefits of securing a place in the Champions League next season as well as reaching the final against Liverpool following the latest transfer news.

According to the Spanish media, Spurs have seen off both Arsenal and Everton in the race to sign Andre Gomes, who is currently on loan at Goodison Park.

Apparently, the North London giants have agreed on terms with Gomes’s agent and will be sending a €30 million official bid through to his parent club, Barcelona.

Gomes has had an excellent season with Everton who had hoped to make his loan deal permanent but that now looks very unlikely. Arsenal had hoped to hijack the deal but they are no longer the attraction they once were and it is also questionable whether they have the money to compete with Tottenham in the transfer market anymore.

Spurs have made no signings in the last two transfer windows and it has shown in the last couple of months, it is a miracle that they have reached the Champions League final, their players have clearly tired and injuries and suspensions have taken a huge toll and it is fully expected that they will be doing significant business in the summer.

The signing of Gomes will send a message to their Premier League rivals that they will be a force to be reckoned with next season and will be focussed of improving on this seasons performances.
