Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino will not have the luxury of excuses next season

Over the last couple of years, Tottenham have been able to put out a load of excuses for some of their failing, no new signings for two transfer windows, the new stadium being built, playing at Wembley etc but those days are now over with and the Champions League finalists will have to stand up and be counted now.

Mauricio Pochettino has done a brilliant job but he has made some significant mistakes as well, the team he put out against Crystal Palace in the FA Cup, playing Harry Kane in the Champions League final and dropping hattrick hero Lucas Moura are just two that spring to mind, there are many more.

The Argentine also was unable to stop the end of season collapse in the Premier League and if it was not for Arsenal’s meltdown they would be looking at Europa League football next season.

The lack of new signings did have a serious effect on the team and that cannot be allowed to continue, significant new signings will have to be made and silverware must be delivered sooner rather than later.

Football is a result driven business and the brutal truth is that despite the brilliant run in the Champions League the cabinet remains empty and the fans will only put up with that for a little while longer before frustration sets in.

The time has come for Mauricio Pochettino to evolve into a trophy winning manager, there is no more time for excuses.
