There was a time when Arsenal was the dominant club in North London but those days are well and truly behind us with Spurs now having the upper hand in many regards.
One of the areas where Tottenham are now the powerhouse is in the transfer market, they have more money to spend and can offer Champions League football putting Arsenal at a severe disadvantage.
That could become very evident if the latest transfer gossip is anywhere near accurate because it seems that Spurs are looking to hijack the Gunners attempts to sign Roma’s Lorenzo Pellegrini.
Arsenal is trying to buy the 22-year-old in instalments and obviously, the Italian side is not so keen, whereas Spurs can easily sign the player with one lump sum.
Tottenham have already made contact with the midfielder’s agent and with reports that Pellegrini wants Champions League football it must make Spurs the clear front runners.
Not only can they pay the asking price of £27 Million in one go, they can also facilitate the players wish to play in Europe’s premier competition.
Whatever way you look at it Tottenham really do have their bitter local rivals over the barrel at this moment in time.
