There is just one issue delaying Frank Lampard being named Chelsea manager

It is just a matter of time before Frank Lampard is named the boss at Stamford Bridge with just one issue delaying the announcement.

The former Chelsea legend is set to return to his former club but not until his current club Derby County are satisfied with the required compensation.

Evening Standard journalist Simon Johnson told talkSPORT claims that the Blues legend is simply waiting now for the clubs to hammer out an agreement.

Just the compensation package to be worked out

Lampard will take over from Maurizio Sarri who has since been named the Juventus manager. The Italian won the Europa League with Chelsea but never quite won over the fans.

By contrast, Chelsea fans will welcome their record goalscorer with open arms.

There are some concerns that the 41-year-old lacks the experience to take on such a high profile role. But there is good will on all sides which is a change from the Sarri period.

There is a £4 Million clause within Lampard’s Derby contract but he also wants to take some of his backroom staff with him and that means it is likely to be above that figure.

This is almost certain to happen, it is just a matter of time.
