Former Arsenal star Robert Pires has given his opinion on the likelihood of Real Madrid signing Manchester United superstar Paul Pogba and does not see it happening.
Pogba put the cats among the pigeons last week when he said Real Madrid was a dream club, some saw that as an indication that the French world cup winner saw his future away from Old Trafford and was basically sending a message to Real to come and get me.
But Pires is not convinced that is on the cards any time soon.
Speaking to Bwin, Pires said
“I do not think Manchester United fans should be worried about Pogba’s departure. I think he once thought about going to Barcelona and I would not be surprised if his agent still thinks about it, but the best thing is that Pogba stays at Manchester United.
“I also think he can continue to progress in this club, where he finds stability.”
Pires is probably right, if anyone is agitating for a move it is Pogbas agents, for them it is always a huge payday when Pogba moves, however, at United Pogba is the central figure, the player they will build their team around, at Real Madrid he will be just another cog in the wheel and unless the Spanish giants make a tremendous offer, it is hard to see him leaving United any time soon.
