Mikel Arteta does not rule out a move for long term target

Mikel Arteta flirts with the idea of having Wilfred Zaha with him at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta has refused to rule out making a move for Wilfried Zaha ahead of Arsenal’s game against Crystal Palace.

The Gunners will face Palace this weekend in what should be a tough game and the Spaniard admits that he is well aware of the damage that Zaha can do and insists that his team will be prepared for the Ivorian.

“We know Wilf, the type of talent he is, and when he gets isolated in one-vs-one situations what he can do, Arteta told the media

“Of course he will be part of the game-plan.”

Arsenal is one of several teams who have a longstanding interest in Zaha.

The Gunners placed a bid for him over the summer but it was rejected. Palace wanted nothing less than £80 million for the winger. A fee too high for Arsenal.

He has continued to be linked with a move to Arsenal and Arteta has refused to put that rumour to rest by denying Arsenal’s interest.

He was asked about the prospect of training the former Manchester United winger and saidt:

“I think he’s a terrific player.

“I think the impact he’s had in the last few years in the Premier League has been phenomenal.

“His ability to create chances on his own is unique.”

Arsenal is unlikely to make a move for Zaha this month but a summer move across town remains a possibility.
