Mikel Arteta opens up on the future of Dani Ceballos.
Mikel Arteta has admitted that Dani Ceballos is getting better but his improved form hasn’t prompted the Gunners to begin discussions with Real Madrid about keeping him at the Emirates beyond this season.
The Spaniard signed for Arsenal on a season-long loan deal from Real Madrid last summer and he started his career well.
His form eventually tailed off and he also got himself injured. When Mikel Arteta became Arsenal’s manager, he was rehabilitating in Madrid and he had to fight his way back to full fitness.
As he returned to fitness, he struggled to break into Arteta’s team, but he has recently returned to the first team and to form and Arteta has acknowledged that improvement.
He is happy that the Spaniard has improved but maintained that both sides haven’t talked about the player’s future after this season.
He said as quoted by TeamTalk: “We haven’t had any discussions about it [a permanent deal],” the Gunners boss told his press conference on Thursday.
“I’m really happy with Dani and what he’s bringing to the team right now.
“It took him a while after his injury to get to the level that he has and that I’ve seen in the past. He’s performing much better now and that’s why he’s playing much more games.”
Ceballos is also enjoying his spell at the Emirates but he hasn’t openly committed his long term future to the Gunners recently.
