Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has made up his mind about who will be his first choice keeper following a week of upheaval.
Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash with Fulham Sarri made it clear that Kepa Arrizabalaga will remain his No1.
Kepa disobeyed Sarri in last Sunday’s Carabao Cup final loss against Man City refusing to be substituted, that cost him a week’s wages after being fined and was dropped for the London derby win over Tottenham with Willy Caballero replacing the young Spaniard between the sticks.
“Is he the No1? Of course,” Sarri said. “I think that it was the right decision. Kepa made a big mistake. He paid with the club then he had to pay with the team. But now I think that we have to stop, Kepa from tomorrow will be with us.
“Of course I don’t know if in the next match will be on the pitch or not, but in one of the next two for sure.
“We cannot kill him. When you are young I think that you can make mistakes. The most important thing is that you need to understand very well after every mistake. For me the question is closed.
Despite those comments, Sarri refused to confirm if he would be reinstating Kepa for the Fulham game, but did add that Kepa would return very soon and that as far as he was concerned the matter is now over.
