Manchester City is prepared to offer €45 million to Juventus for the signature of Merih Demiral.
The Turkish defender joined Juve from Sassuolo last summer and he has struggled to get into the Old Ladies’ first team.
However, he began to be liked by Maurizio Sarri towards the end of last year. But there are fears that his stint in the starting XI may be temporary. This is why he continues to be linked with moves elsewhere.
Manchester City has become the latest side to be interested in signing him. They believe he can help them improve their defence.
City has struggled in defence this season. The absence of Aymeric Laporte for much of this campaign has been credited for that.
Pep Guardiola knows that it is dangerous to rely so much on one player and the Spaniard wants Demiral to come and spread the responsibility.
Demiral has also attracted the attention of Arsenal and Leicester City. However, Manchester City is confident that he will snub any club to move to the English champions.
Juventus rate Demiral higher than Danielle Rugani and they have not shown any sign of wanting to sell him. But Manchester City’s offer could change their minds.
If City does step in and make a concrete bid it will be a disappointment for both Arsenal and Leicester City. Both clubs will have to look elsewhere to strengthen their respective defences.
