It is looking increasingly likely that Manchester United will lose goalkeeper David de Gea in the summer, according to the latest media reports.
De Gea is not a happy bunny, he wants a huge salary and by all accounts, United are not playing ball and any incentive they had to offer, like good silverware prospects or even Champions League football next season has almost vaporised.
The problem for United is the ridiculous wage they pay Alexis Sanchez, De Gea wants the same and you cannot blame him, in fact, the cleaner at Old Trafford probably deserves the same as Sanchez if it is performance related.
Italian Champions Juventus and French Champions Paris St Germain are both reported to be prepared to meet the Spaniards wage demands and the ball is now firmly in Man Utd’s court, either cough up or he will walk.
De Gea has been one of the very few solid performers for United this season and at 28 years of age still has his best years in front of him, if the Red Devils were to lose him it will make their rebuilding efforts all that much harder.
The bottom line is that United are hamstrung by the wages they pay Sanchez, any new players coming in or any of their current top players will want parity with the Chilean, if he was playing like Messi or Ronaldo or Salah then his stupendous wage would be justified but not when he is playing like a hungover Sunday League player.
