Man Utd are close to completing a deal worth £42.5 Million to take Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Old Trafford.

Following talks with Crystal Palace, United are on the verge of completing a £42.5 Million deal to take the exciting youngster to Old Trafford this summer.

The Eagles wanted £60 Million for the England U21 defender and it still may reach that figure depending on add-ons.

The report in the Daily Mail claims the agreement came after marathon talks on Friday.

The rumours around the 21-year-old were given credibility when the England U21 manager Aidy Boothroyd admitted the speculation is having an effect on the youngster.

So much so that he was demoted to the bench for England’s second game in the U21 Championship on Friday.

Boothroyd said: ‘It would be difficult for an older person, who is more experienced in life, to cope with all the things that go through your head when you are nearly moving. This has been going on a long time.

‘For a young player, who only knows Crystal Palace’s academy and first team, it would be daft not to say he hasn’t thought about it.

‘I would not be truthful if I told you anything other than that. When that speculation is flying around it is bound to turn your head.’

Wan-Bissaka had a stand out season for Palace and clubs were queuing up for his signature. However, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has beaten off all comers in the race to sign the youngster.

The Norwegian views the young man as a long term successor to Ashley Young in the problem right back position. Young is not a natural defender and that was clearly evident last season.

The signing will be the Red Devils second this transfer window following the £17m purchase of Swansea City’s Dan James.

That will not be the end of the spending at Old Trafford, especially if Paul Pogba leaves. Solskjaer is still looking for at least a central defender and centre midfielder.
