Manchester United want to sign Pierre-Emerick Abubameyang in massive £70 Million transfer
There has been a whole host of rumours over the last 48 hours linking Man Utd with a move for Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. But there is one small problem, United cannot afford the Gabon International.
According to Mark Ogden at ESPN, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have just £27m left to spend after Aaron Wan-Bissaka acquisition.
United are expected to complete the £55 Million move for the Crystal Palace defender in the next week. That money will be on top of the £18 Million spent on the signing of Swansea City’s Daniel James.
So with £73 Million spent that would leave just £27 Million to spend, way below the touted £70 Million Aubaemyang would cost.
You see, Solskjaer apparently only has a budget of £100 Million to spend on new players according to the same source.
That transfer budget will be topped up with player sales which could include Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku.
In better words, the only way United can afford to spend another £70 Million is to make significant sales and until that happens the bottom line is, they cannot afford to sign Arsenal’s Golden Boot winner.
There is also Alexis Sanchez but who would take him on and pay his huge £500k per week wages.
Maybe a swap deal?
No, I didn’t think so either.
