Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku has taken a huge step towards departing Old Trafford with the news that he has agreed on personal terms with Serie A giants Inter Milan, according to the latest transfer news.
The Italian media outlet, Gazzetta dello Sport claims that part of the agreement is that the Belgium international will earn bonuses of £6 Million.
No fee has been agreed but United are reported to be wanting a fee in the region of £70 Million.
Lukaku has struggled at United but is a different beast with Belgium as he showed with two goals against Scotland in the Euro 2020 qualifying match earlier this week.
The 26-year-old is a great admirer of new Inter coach Antonio Conte, calling him the best manager in the world.
Lukaku said, “I am a big Serie A fan, those close to me know that I have always wanted to play in the English league and in the Italian one, I love Italy.
“The transfer of [Cristiano] Ronaldo, the Italian league is now coming back. Now Antonio Conte going to Inter Milan, which is really good because he is, to me, the best manager in the world.
“You know I’m not somebody who likes to talk about my personal relationship with managers, but I’m a Manchester United player.”
All the signs are there that this deal could happen, Lukaku wants to go to Inter and has agreed on personal terms, while United are keen to offload the underperforming forward.
All that is required now is for the clubs to agree on a fee.
