Liverpool plotting move for 20-year-old U17 World Cup winner

Liverpool may break a long tradition of Jurgen Klopp’s and make a move for a Nigerian youngster this month.

The German manager doesn’t enjoy being busy in the January transfer window. But he has already made an addition to his squad this month and could make another one.

Liverpool confirmed the signing of Takashi Minamoto this month from RB Salzburg, but the Daily Mail is claiming that another player might make a move to Anfield as well.

The report claims that Liverpool is eyeing a move for Villarreal’s Samuel Chukwueze.

The 20 years old Nigerian has been in top form for the Spanish side since he broke into the first team last season.

He has been likened to Arjen Robben because of his bursting runs down the right flank and his ability to get pass players.

He has continued to develop his game and Liverpool, who have been monitoring the youngster, may make a move.

The report further claims that Lyon was also interested in his signature. But the French side has been put off by his huge release clause.

Villarreal would, however, accept any offer in the region of £34 million which is below his release clause.

Chukweze was a member of Nigeria’s U17 team that won the FIFA World Cup in 2015.
