Liverpool and Arsenal have been put on red alert following the revelation that the release clause for Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt is just €25 Million.
Brandt only signed a new deal with Bayer last year and unbelievably it includes the crazy low release clause as revealed by German media giant BILD.
The accepted valuation for the German international had been a minimum €40 Million and so the news that it is much lower will have clubs like Arsenal and Liverpool stepping up their interest in the 22-year-old.
When you consider how young Brandt still is the idea that he would be available for such a bargain price is simply unfathomable, why Bayer would agree to such a low release clause is bewildering.
Brandt’s current deal runs until 2021 and unless his club sits him down, offers him a huge wage rise, a significant bonus and a much higher release clause the chances are that they will lose him in the summer.
For their part, Bayer has refused to comment on the BILD revelations with Leverkusen Chief Rudi Voller only saying,
“We do not comment on the contents of contracts.”
