Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could not resist taking a subtle dig at the critics who have questioned his side desire following a string of below-par performances.
Liverpool thumped Watford 5-0 last night with Sadio Mane and Virgil van Dijk scoring a brace each and Daniel Origi also finding the back of the net.
Klopp did not come out directly and slam into the critics but he made it clear that a lot has been written about his players and their mentality and that it was wrong.
He said: “It was just… the boys showed how much they enjoy the game and the situation!
“It was an important sign. You know what was written and said about us. It is of course not right. these boys are outstanding and today they showed so much passion.
“The game from Mo [Salah] was incredible. Sadio [Mane] scored a brilliant goal. All three midfielders were outstanding. Both centre-halves played outstanding.
“We won 5-0 so you don’t talk about them but they had their moments. Even Alisson was great. The boys who came on controlled the game. A lot to talk about.”
This win could be a pivotal moment for the Reds, the truth is that their game had slipped recently, they did lose a good lead at the top of the table and they have underperformed, but no one can question their passion and desire after tonights display and you have to think that they will now kick on and take the title race down to the wire.
