Lampard is the firm favourite with both the fans and bookies to land the job and one of his former teammates Didier Drogba, has given his opinion on Chelsea’s record goalscorer becoming the Blues next manager.
Drogba was speaking at the weekend about both Lampard and another former teammate John Terry, management capabilities saying,
“Those two were part of the spine of the team for more than a decade.
“They’ve given so much to the game and Chelsea Football Club.
“When you told me this was the direction he [Lampard] wants to take, I knew he would do great because he’s got all the qualities required.
“He listens, he’s a winner, he works hard, like John did. They are good guys and hard workers.”
Warm words indeed from the Ivory Coast legend who may have a role to play as well with some reports claiming that he has been approached by Lampard to become the striker coach.
Owner Roman Abramovich has already spoken with Lampard about the manager’s position and has assured him that he will be allowed time in the role to implement his vision and given that Chelsea are on a two-window transfer ban and have lost Eden Hazard the former England midfielder will need all the time he can get.
