Chelsea would have been up there with their top-six rivals but the two-window transfer ban has basically demoted them to also-rans.
The Ajax director of football Marc Overmars confirmed just last month that the Moroccan midfielder will be allowed to leave in the summer, saying: “He leaves when a top club comes. He is in focus because of his achievements in the Champions League.
“Many big clubs are buzzing around him. We promised Hakim [that we would] agree to a good transfer.”
It seems that Ajax has come to the conclusion that it is best to price Ziyech at a level that will ensure a quick sale, they clearly have no desire to undergo a lengthy transfer saga this summer.
Previously the player has indicated that he would love to play for Barcelona and Arsenal saying back in 2017
“Well, I have two clubs. They are Arsenal and Barcelona . That is my ultimate dream,”
Whoever wins the race to sign him will get a player that knocked in 21 goals and 24 assists last season in all competitions for Ajax and who has proven himself on the highest stage in club football.
