Chelsea board united over replacing Maurizio Sarri with Frank Lampard

Not everyone on the Chelsea board was initially convinced that Frank Lampard had the credentials to take over from Maurizio Sarri as the clubs next manager, however, it is being reported that the hierarchy at the club are now united on the decision to give their former player the job.

There were significant concerns over Lampard’s inexperience and ability to take on such a huge role and some board members wanted to go with a more high profile coach but it now appears they are all behind the decision to give the Englishman a go.

It is also being reported that they have no intention of delaying his appointment any longer than necessary and he will be confirmed in the role within the next few days.

Lampard has a huge task ahead of him, he cannot sign any new players for two transfer windows and will not be able to call on the services of Eden Hazard who has been sold to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

It is a huge gamble for a club drunk on success but Lampard is a huge fan favourite and most importantly is a favourite of owner Roman Abramovich.
