There has been a lot of rumours regarding the future of Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud and his France international team-mate Samuel Umtiti reckons that Lyon would be a good move for the forward.
Giroud can move for free in the summer and the speculation is that he would return to France to either Marseille or Lyon and Barcelona defender Umtiti is firmly in the Lyon camp.
He told Telefoot: “OL, a good destination for Giroud? Of course.
“It’s up to him to make the right choices as he has. OL, in France, is one of the best clubs where you can flourish.”
Giroud himself still believes that he has a few years left at the top despite being 32-years-old and may well remain at Stamford Bridge, especially with the transfer ban imposed on the Blues, however, as things stand right now a move is parting of ways is almost certain.
It is difficult to know which team Gorud will plump for, both Marseille and Lyon have their attractions, however, Champions League football may be the deciding factor and that is where Lyon have the edge, they are third in Ligue 1, the Champions League playoff spot, six points ahead of Marseille with nine games to go and just four points behind Lille, who occupy the second and final automatic Champions League qualification position.
