Neres was one of Ajax’s standout performers last season and has found himself on a whole host of top clubs radars and the two London clubs are among the front runners, according to the latest reports.
When asked about the interest being shown in him the Brazilian international responded
‘Of course the Premier League interests me,’
‘It’s the best league in the world, and I’ve always wanted to play there. But I leave all that in God’s hands.
‘I try to stay focused on what’s happening on the pitch, and on the competition I’m playing in. I leave those things to my agents to deal with.’
Those comments are being perceived as a come and get me plea to the two Premier League sides, however, there are some issues for both clubs to overcome.
Chelsea are banned from signing any players for the next two transfer windows and unless they can get the ban overturned on appeal they can forget all about signing the 22-year-old.
For their part, Arsenal will really struggle to cough up the £40 Million that it will reportedly cost to sign the attacking midfielder.
If both Arsenal and Chelsea fall by the wayside it could open up the door up for Everton with their own Brazilian star Richarlison, admitting that he spoke to Neres about a move while the pair were on international duty.
‘Yeah, I read something about that,’ Richarlison added. ‘I’ve spoken to him about it already. I told him the doors are open for him there, and that he could help us a lot.
‘I hope he comes. He’d be very welcome there. I’ve known him since we played together for Brazil’s U20 side, and he’s a guy I get along with really well. Hopefully I’ll see him there.’
£40 Million may seem a lot of money but Neres is worth it, he is a top talent and at just 22-years of age is nowhere near his peak and could easily be worth up to four times that amount in a few years time.
