Philippe Coutinho was one of the best players on the planet when he played for Liverpool and secured himself a dream move to Barcelona, but the dream has soured and it is almost certain that he will depart the Nou Camp with his reputation damaged.
He has lost the trust of the fans and a move back to the Premier League is seen as the best thing that can happen for the Brazilian and he appears to be in full agreement with that assessment.
Coutinho believes he could fill the spot vacated by Eden Hazard and he may well right, he is undoubtedly still a top-class player and just because it did not work out for him in Spain does not mean that he cannot make a huge difference elsewhere.
The attacking midfielder is still highly valued by Barcelona despite a torrid time with the Spanish champions and they are expecting at least £100 Million for him, a fee that Chelsea could afford but the elephant in the room is that they are under a two-window transfer embargo.
If the Europa League champions managed to get the ban overturned then there is a strong possibility that Coutinho could be playing in West London next season, if not, then Paris may have to do.
