Arsenal to make third bid for Alexis Claude-Maurice after agreeing personal terms

Arsenal are absolutely determined to sign Lorient forward Alexis Claude-Maurice and will not take no for an answer.

The Gunners are returning with a third offer after twice having bids rejected, they have already agreed on personal terms with the young man and now just need to get his club to agree to a fee.

Arsenal already have two well established front men in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette but do require more strength in depth and that is why Unai Emery is being so persistent with Claude-Maurice.

Emery made the decision to not extend the contract of Danny Welbeck and that has left him short up front and the Spaniard sees Claude-Maurice as a better option than bringing through any of the Arsenal youth team players.

Claude-Maurice is said to be close friends with Mattéo Guendouzi and is very keen on being reunited with his former teammate at the Emirates but he will not come cheap, it will take at least €20 Million for Lorient to agree to sell him.

Claude-Maurice, who is just 21, scored 14 goals in 35 starts last season, which is not a bad return and if he can get anywhere near replicating that in the Premier League he will be a bargain at just €20 Million but that is a big if.

It is unlikely that the Gunners will go back with a fourth bid and so it is now down to Lorient, they either accept the bid or Arsenal will walk.
