Arsenal has been linked with a move for Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet for the last month, in fact, it was reported that the Gunners had offered £49 million for him and his teammate Joachim Andersen but for some reason the deal has stalled.
Now, however, it is being reported that we will all know within the next two weeks what the future holds for Praet, according to his agent Martin Riha.
It is no longer certain that the player will decide to join Arsenal with AC Milan said to be serious competitors for his signature.
The reason is that the Sampdoria manager Marco Giampaolo is set to be named the new Milan manager and wants to take Praet with him.
Speaking about the situation with his client, Riha said,
‘Everybody knows what Giampaolo thinks of Dennis. For now, I can’t say anything else,’
‘AC Milan is an important brand, it’s a big name. But there are also other clubs that want to sign him, especially abroad, they’ve already shown their interest.’
With regards to Arsenal, he said: ‘I can’t add anything else now, I think you can understand.
‘Dennis is a complete footballer and he is ready to join a big club.
‘There are many clubs interested, we’ll know everything in a few weeks.’
So, we now know what the hold up has been and it is AC Milan and I think we can take from the agent’s comments and the lack of movement in recent days from the Gunners that Praet is likely to remain in Italy this summer.
