Arsenal have no intention of selling their Uruguayan midfielder, however, recent comments by Torreira have thrown his future at the Emirates into doubt and it appears that Milan is looking to take advantage of the situation.
Torreira basically said that he was happier in Italy and it is known that his girlfriend has not settled well in London and with his former manager at Sampdoria, Marco Giampaolo set to take over at Milan and keen on being reunited with his former player the signs are there that a possible deal could happen.
For their part, Arsenal has previously been linked with Kessie and so they would not be getting a player they have no interest in.
Both players are close in age, Torreira, 23, and Kessie, 22, both are valued about the same and while they do have different styles of play they are fairly similar.
Milan are reported to be in direct contact with Torreira’s agent and that can only muddy the waters more and if the Gunners are not careful they may end up being forced to do a deal they don’t really want to.
That said, Arsenal does have the upper hand as they would be reluctant sellers and could force Milan to hand over Kessie and cash.
Kessie is actually on a two-year loan to Milan from Atalanta but there is an obligation to buy clause which comes into effect on July 1st and therefore Kessie is basically a Milan player.
Will this one happen? it could but is a bit of a long shot.
