Arsenal are desperate to top up their small transfer budget and cut back on their huge wage bill and they will be able to achieve both of those ambitions with one fell swoop and that is by selling Mesut Ozil.
However, German football expert Raphael Honigstein, has made it clear that in his opinion Ozil will 100% be at the Emirates next season.
Ozil is on a huge £350k weekly wage that is having a draining effect on the club and Arsenal could raise possibly £30 Million in a transfer fee but Honigstein just does not see that happening.
Speaking in the Sky Sports transfer podcast Honigstein said
“100 per cent. He is on a contract that it is impossible for any club to match at this stage in his career. He is not going to go to Turkey or China. It’s not in his interest.
“He’s not going to go on loan. Arsenal will have to deal with him. My feeling from his point of view is who knows how long Emery will be there? Maybe in a year’s time, he will be in favour again.
“My sense knowing him and his people a little bit, they feel Arsenal gave him a contract and made him their best paid player. Now let’s see what happens.”
Honigstein is, of course, absolutely right, no club will be willing to spend so much money on the German playmaker and he has no intention of leaving North London and it seems that the Gunners are simply stuck with him for now.
They have limited options, they could try and drive him out of the club by forcing him to train with the youths but even then he would have to agree to a pay cut or they could actually try and work with him to see if he can get back to his very best because he is still a very talented individual.
