Arsenal has overtaken German giants Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Guingamp forward Marcus Thuram, according to the latest transfer rumours.
Dortmund had lined up Thuram as a replacement for Jadon Sancho who they are resigned to losing in the summer, however, the Gunners have thrown their hat into the ring and are now seen as the front runners.
There is some confusion over who alerted Arsenal to the services of the 21-year-old, some are reporting that is was the newly appointed Sevilla sporting director Monchi, while others are saying it was the Arsenal manager Unai Emery who first raised the prospect of signing the scoring sensation.
Either way, what is clear is that the Gunners are fully aware of Thuram, they have reportedly scouted him and Emery knows exactly what the youngster is capable of from his time in France as Paris St Germain manager.
Thuram has scored 11 goals in 22 games this season despite playing for a very average Guingamp side and scouts from a whole host of clubs, including Manchester United and Tottenham have sent representatives to make regular checks on the 21-year-old attacker.
Despite the widespread interest and transfer restrictions Arsenal are under it is reported that Thuram is one player they are determined to land.
