“We die for the team” those are the words of young Gunners star Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who epitomised the passion and determination shown from the Arsenal players in their 2-0 win over Man Utd yesterday at the Emirates.
Speaking to Arsenal.com Maitland-Niles said,
“We’re all team players, you know. We die for the team and you could see it today in every tackle, every chase down and every block. It was fantastic to see.
“The fans were brilliant today and we need them behind us every step of the way, just like that today. Not just big games, even in the games where we don’t have to win but we should still win. It’s fantastic to hear the noise of the fans.
“It’s a big, big result for us, 2-0 at home. People don’t come here and expect to win easily, but we’ve got to keep our roll going and make it hard for teams to come here so that they know they’re not going to win.”
It certainly did show yesterday how much the game meant to the Arsenal players, they did seem to be winning every 50-50 ball, they clearly wanted it more, however, they need to show the spirit that Maitland-Niles talks about on a consistent basis.
They need to have the same attitude when they face Rennes in the second leg of the Europa League, they need to show it in away games against lesser team in the Premier League, it is easy to get up for games against Man Utd and Tottenham but not so easy when away against Burnley or Southampton.
